Keyslam privacy policy

The Keyslam app makes no network connections and has no analytics. This website uses Google Analytics to count visits. This page lists everything the app and the website handle, where it goes and how long it stays.

Updated

Short answer: the Keyslam app makes no network connections at all. It uses which key went down to pick a sound, never stores or sends what you type, checks your Ed25519-signed license offline, and keeps your trial date in your Mac's Keychain. Payments go through Stripe; the seller is Venture Deals, Co.

Network. The Keyslam app makes no network connections. Your license key is digitally signed (Ed25519) and checked offline on your Mac, and a periodic re-check only repeats that offline signature check. Buying opens checkout in your web browser, and activation comes back through a link that opens the app on your Mac.

Key presses. Keyslam uses macOS's Input Monitoring permission to learn which key went down and whether it was a letter, Space, Return, Delete or a modifier. Its keyboard tap is listen-only, so it can't change or block anything you type. macOS doesn't deliver keystrokes from password fields to any app. More on whether Input Monitoring is safe to allow.

Motion sensor. On MacBooks with Apple's motion sensor, accelerometer readings are processed in memory to estimate how hard each key landed. They are never stored or sent. After 3 minutes without typing, the sensor is switched off.

No analytics. The app contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking code.

Updates. There is no built-in update check. If a future version adds one, or any other network feature, this page will be updated to say so.

This website

Google Analytics. keyslam.com uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which pages lead people to try a sound, download the app or buy it. Google receives the page address, the referring site, your approximate location, your device and browser type, and those few events; it doesn't receive anything you type into forms. Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address. Ad features are off: no advertising cookies, no remarketing and no ad personalization. In the EU, the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, analytics starts off and Google Analytics sends only cookieless pings until you choose Allow in the banner. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

Your choice. Analytics in this browser is on. Your choice is saved in this browser's local storage. Browser tracking protection and ad blockers that block Google Analytics work too.

Everything else is ours. Fonts, images and sounds are served from keyslam.com itself, and sounds you play in the browser are processed on your device.

Hosting. The site is a set of static pages hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may log basic request data such as IP addresses to run and protect the service; see GitHub's privacy statement.

Forms. The notify-me, contact and lost-key forms send what you type to our own Cloudflare Worker, not to a mailing-list or helpdesk company. We use your email only to reply to you or to send the launch link.

Payments are processed by Stripe. The seller is Venture Deals, Co. We receive your email address and order details to issue and support your license (your key is shown in your browser after checkout, not emailed); Stripe handles your card under its own privacy policy. After you pay, the thank-you page asks our Worker for your key using the Stripe session id, and the Worker confirms the payment with Stripe before signing the key.

Refunds: a full refund within 14 days if Keyslam doesn't work for you. Reply to your Stripe receipt or use the contact form. The trial, license and refund terms are on the pricing page.

Privacy questions

Does the Keyslam website use cookies?

Only Google Analytics cookies, to count visits, and only if analytics is on for you. In the EU, the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland it starts off: Google Analytics then sets no cookies until you choose Allow. There are no advertising cookies. A few pages also keep small things in your browser's local storage, such as your analytics choice or a copy of your license key on the thank-you page. That stays in your browser.

Does the Keyslam app use Google Analytics?

No. Google Analytics runs only on this website. The Keyslam app has no analytics and makes no network connections.

Who sees my card details?

Stripe. You pay on Stripe's checkout page. The seller, Venture Deals, Co., can see your email address, the order details and the card's brand and last 4 digits (the lost-key form can match those 4 digits), but never your full card number.

How do I get my email deleted?

Send a message through the contact form from the address you want removed, and we'll delete your notify-me or contact entries.
